MHR developed a combined heat and power (CHP) system including a cost-benefit savings analysis for implementation of a CHP system in connection with an absorption chiller that would provide carbon free cooling for the aquarium. The CHP system will provide electricity for the facility and offset a portion of its thermal energy requirement. MHR worked with the local municipal electric distribution company, South Norwalk Electric and Water (SNEW), to secure interconnection approval for the CHP system. MHR is managing implementation of the project and will oversee commissioning in fall 2025.
